ST. FRANICS PARISH TO HOST DIOCESAN ORDINATIONS AUGUST 21

The Archbishop of the Diocese of the Holy Spirit has announced the ordination of two deacons and one priest for August 21, 2010.

Steve Baggett and Sis. Maryann Gonzales, OFS, are scheduled to be ordained to the diaconate (transitional) and Deacon Tonya Frierson, CJ, to the priesthood on August 21, 2010, at Saint Francis Parish in Nashville, Tennessee, during a stational Mass at 6:00 P.M.

Baggett and Gonzales have completed three of the four phases of seminary education and will be ordained to the transitional diaconate. Both are expected to be ordained to the priesthood after finishing the fourth seminary phase in early Advent 2010.

Deacon Frierson has completed the LST (License of Sacred Theology) program of the Diocesan seminary and is a graduate of Emmanuel Bible College in Nashville. She will continue to serve in the Society of Companions of Jesus and as pastor of Hope Ministries in Madison, Tennessee.

The ordinations are scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2010, during a stational Mass of the Archbishop, beginning at 6:00 P.M. at Saint Francis Parish in Nashville, Tennessee. Archbishop Jack Stafford will preside.

ST. FRANICS PARISH CELEBRATES
SECOND ANNIVERSARY

Saint Francis Parish celebrates its second anniversary as a parish of the Free Catholic Church in August 2010.

Originally formed as a community mission,  the parish took its Patron's name (Saint Francis of Assisi) in 2009 and serves the greater Nashville-Davidson County area.

Saint Francis Parish will celebrate the second anniversary of its mission on Sunday, August 22, 2010 with a luncheon following the 11:00 A.M. Mass. The Rt. Rev. Mark Leavell of Petersburg, Virginia, Presiding Bishop of the United Free Catholic Church, will give the homily and Abp. Jack Stafford of the Diocese of the Holy Spirit will celebrate Mass.

COMPANIONS OF JESUS TO HOST MEMORIAL OF SAINT IGNATIUS LOYOLA

Emmanuel Chapter of the Society of Companions of Jesus has scheduled an ecumenical celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, July 31.

The celebration will be held at Saint Francis Parish at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday evening, July 31. Various members of the Society will preach, provide musical selections and join in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. A number of new professions into the Society are also scheduled to be made during the celebration.

Archbishop Jack Stafford of the Diocese of the Holy Spirit will be the principal celebrant and Dr. Samella Spence, CJ,  Superior of Emmanuel Chapter will deliver the homily.

WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY BEGINS JULY 11 AT ST. FRANICS PARISH

Saint Francis Parish is beginning a weekly Bible study beginning Sunday morning, July 11 at 10:00 A.M.

The Sunday Bible Study is from 10-10:45 A.M. each Sunday morning and will be informal sessions designed to give everyone interested the opportunity to learn more about the Word of God.

Everyone is encouraged to come to the Bible study as often as posssibile. Coffee and refreshments will also be served.

Eucharistic Procession June 6

Saint Francis Parish will celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, commonly known as the feast of Corpus Christi, on Sunday, June 6, 2010, during the 11:00 A.M. Mass.

The Feast of Corpus Christi actually falls on June 3, but the Bishop has transfered the celebrations to Sunday, June 6, in accordance with Western Rite tradition.

A Eucharistic Procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be celebrated at the close of Mass.

Mass of the Sacred Heart
June 4 AND June 11

Saint Francis Parish will celebrate the Mass of the Sacred Heart on Friday, June 4, the "First Friday Mass", at 12 Noon as usual.

The Mass of the Sacred Heart will also be celebrated on June 11 at 12 Noon. June 11, 2010 is the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

Please plan to attend Mass if at all possible.

THE DAY OF PENTECOST AT SAINT FRANCIS PARISH
St. Francis Free Catholic Church celebrated Pentecost Sunday on May 24, 2010 at the 11:00 A.M. Mass.

The Franciscan Youth provided a wonderful presentation and lead the procession at the beginning of Mass. The chapel was beautifully decorated and everyone joined in a Spirit-filled celebration of the miraculous power of Pentecost.

ST. FRANCIS PARISH CELEBRATES
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

Saint Francis Free Catholic Church celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday during the 11:00 A.M. Mass on April 11.

The parish's tapestry image of the Divine Mercy of Jesus was processed and venerated. Individual images of the Divine Mercy were also blessed and distributed to everyone attending.

Sis. Maryann Gonzales, OFS, Minister General of the Order of Franciscan Servants, delivered a powerful presentation on the history and promises of the Divine Mercy as revealed to St. Faustina.

The parish shared a potluck lunch and a time a fellowship after Mass.

ARCHBISHOP TO CELEBRATE CHRISM MASS AT SAINT FRANCIS PARISH

The Archdiocesan Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Holy Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 7:00 P.M. at Saint Francis Parish. Abp. Stafford will celebrate with all clergy of the Archdiocese who can attend.

Saint Francis parish hosted the annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass on Saturday, December 12 at 5:00 P.M.

Traditional songs, a procession and crowning of an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Most Holy Mass of Christ were celebrated to honor the Patroness of our Diocese.

Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this Mass a reality this year. May God bless you all.

SEMINARY GRADUATES ORDAINED DEACONS

On Sunday, November 22, the Feast of Christ the King, Hugh Farthing and Johnny Gonzales were ordained Deacons in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church at Saint Francis Free Catholic Church in Nashville.

Bishop Jack Stafford, Ordinary of the Free Catholic Diocese of the Holy Spirit, ordained the two men by the laying on of hands in Apostolic Succession during the Solemn Mass of Christ the King. Many firends, family and relatives were on hand to witness the ordinations.

DEACON CANDIDATES AWARDED DIPLOMAS

St. Francis parishioners and deacon candidates Hugh Farthing and Johnny Gonzales each received the Diploma of Diaconal Studies on Sunday, October 25 at Saint Francis Church.

The men have completed the Diaconate Training Program, which is administered by Sacred Heart Seminary and is a requirment for admission to candidacy to the Holy Order of Deacon in the Diocese.

The program contains intense studies in Scripture, theology, pastoral ministry, diaconate studies and ecclesiology.
